Week 12: Exchange Miracles!
We also were able to schedule times for next week to start meeting with two different young women who have been coming to church with their friends and are interested in learning more, and it's so cool to see that sometimes the missionaries are able to find people according to God's will and things work out unexpectedly, like with Jose. But- even more of the time- the members who live near these people of other faiths are able to extend invitations to them to come and to know their Savior better and as they just allow themselves to be extensions of His love all over the earth they are the ones who help their friends in their conversion process the most. We, as missionaries, come and go from area to area and can never have what you, as members, have with those children of God who live near you: a lasting relationship of service and love and the ability to be an example to them throughout your lives.
So, find ways to help those of Heavenly Father's children that He put in your lives who are all around you to come unto their Savior and feel of His love for themselves. They are His sheep too and He numbereth them and is calling after them, and many of them are looking for Him and His ways and they "wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and they [cannot] find it," (Amos 8:12) so it's our duty to help them to find the restored gospel of Jesus Christ! To share the joy and peace of this gospel to all, so they can taste of the sweetness of it and glorify their God which is in heaven. 😊
Keep on being angels to those around you this coming week!
Love you all,
Sister Wilcox

Week 11: Temple Tour Stories
Anyways, I haven't written too many stories lately and so I'll update you all on what has been going on over here as of recent.
When I was working at the temple I met a lot of really great people, both of our faith and not of our faith, and my goal everyday was just to find at least one person that I could brighten their day through a nice, uplifting conversation. So, I talked to every person that I could and it was cool to get to meet so many of Heavenly Father's diverse children and hear all of their stories about their life and who they are. People really do just open up to missionaries and tell them everything, but it's great because I really do care and as you listen to them talk about what matters most to them it lets you get to know who they are and what they need and then "minister to the one" as Christ did.
Two young women (both members of the church) who are around my age really let me think, this past week, on the importance of opening your mouth and always proclaiming Christ's gospel, no matter what comes of it. The first one was an usher inside of the temple, so her job was to stand inside of the stairwell and direct people (and- if it got really busy, making the tour stall- she could talk to the people nearby as she stood there). So I was in the reception tent at the end and she was sitting alone on the couch holding a Book of Mormon, and she looked like a member but I wanted to talk to her because she looked lonely, so I went up and asked how she was doing. Immediately, she began telling me her story of how she just came from ushering inside of the temple and how it got pretty busy so a woman who was waiting next to her started asking her a bunch of questions about the church, and she did her best to answer them. She said that she had brought the Book of Mormon to read as she stood there, and so, as she saw the interest in the lady talking to her, she asked if the woman wanted the Book of Mormon to read it for herself to know of the truth of her words. The girl then said, "I'm so stupid, she didn't want it. I don't know why I thought to give it to her when she didn't want it." It made me so sad! I told her that she did the right thing and that we, as missionaries/members/representatives of Christ face rejection all the time- Christ Himself faced rejection as He taught His own gospel to the world- but that doesn't mean that we should ever give up on offering it to people. When we open our mouths and teach people the gospel we're keeping our baptismal covenants to always be like Him, as Christ always was going around helping people receive His word so they could be saved in the Kingdom of Heaven. He didn't care if they rejected Him- in fact, His own people did reject Him! They despised Him, and they killed Him. And He rose again and continued to love them and teach the world His gospel. So that's the example we need to follow- never give up on helping people come unto Christ and feel His love for themselves. As we truly are filled with Christ's charity we will desire their salvation more than saving our own pride from awkwardness or embarrassment, and we will be able to live Doctrine and Covenants 4.
The second young woman brought her friend through the temple (her friend was not a member and isn't even sure she believes in God) and after they left together she had come back through by herself and came up to me and wanted to ask my advice on the experience she had (I'm telling you: we really do represent Christ, and what better therapist is there than Him? All kinds of people ask us for advice, even if they're like 80 and it's so funny- I love being a missionary). So, she told me her friend went through and then said she didn't feel the spirit and even started pointing out some things that she didn't agree with in the church, and the girl said she bore a strong testimony that she didn't even know that she had to her friend, and it was such a spiritually strengthening moment for her to realize how much she, personally knows that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ in it's fullness and, though she may not understand everything entirely, she has faith that it's God's way and she knows it's the right way. But, she said when she bore her testimony, though she felt the spirit so strongly, her friend didn't seem to be changed at all. I assured her that she did what any missionary would do- bearing her witness of the truth of this gospel- and that her friend still had her own agency with which she could choose to reject Christ and His gospel or to have an open heart and accept it, and maybe one day, down the road, her heart will be softened and she'll be looking for the answers and the peace the gospel provides and she'll look back and realize it was true all along, but that only Heavenly Father knows, and I know He has a plan for her specifically (as He does for all of us, as we are each His children) and we just trust in that plan and do all we can to help out.
But I just want to end saying I know that as we turn outward and focus less on ourselves and our imperfections and shortcomings and pride/image (what people think of us) and just always be looking for ways to help others, that's when true happiness comes as we're developing within ourselves the character of Christ. So, I invite you all to continue to look for ways you can help others, whether it be small acts of service or inviting them to learn about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, find a way to be an angel in someone's life and it'll in turn lift your own as well. And it might not always turn out how we plan, but trust in Heavenly Father and His plan and His timing, and always be willing to do what He asks.
How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.
How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know.
How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.
What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way.
What does he ask? Live like his Son.
-Mabel Jones Gabbott (He Sent His Son)
You might wonder what we do on p-days since we are sort of in the middle of nowhere. I usually bake and we do some sort of fun zone or district activity, but we haven't been hiking yet. There are other areas that are better for that, and it hasn't snowed yet! Hopefully it holds out until at least December!
We watched three (three!) primary programs this past Sunday (11th ward did their's twice: once for their parents and then again for the YSA branch) and it was so adorable! In 7th ward's primary program four little boys were singing together and it was so pricelessly cute! Someone in front of me recorded it (not sure that that's allowed.... but since he did it already I figured I might as well benefit from the video as well 😅) so he sent me the link on Youtube. Unfortunately, I can't access Youtube, but all of you can watch the cuties if you'd like: https://youtu.be/L6WYwx07FEM
Family is the best! Love you guys too! Thank you for all you do!

Week 10: Tender Mercies
1 Nephi 1:20 talks about how, "The tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom He hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance," and in D&C 84:88 the Lord promises that He will be with us, that, "[He] will go before our face. [He] will be on our right and on our left, and [His] Spirit shall be in [our] hearts, and [His] angels round about [us] to bear [us] up," and this week I've really been able to see these promises being fulfilled!
As I said in a past email, I believe those angels are the people around us, who the Lord puts in our lives to be representatives of Him, to help us when we are in need of help, to give us comfort and to let us feel His love for us through them.
I know that as long as we keep our eyes open to look for these diligent servants/angels of the Lord we will always find them because they're here on the earth all around us, there to bear us up!
Knowing this makes me always want to look for ways to be an angel for someone else, and to lift someone else who's feeling down. To recognize that the Lord works through us to answer other's prayers if we're willing to do His will and listen to promptings He gives to us and that we can be the tender mercies He sends to His children who are in despair, we can let our light shine before them and brighten their day to let them see our good works and turn their eyes up to glorify our Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16)! I love that the Lord allows us to be there for His other children, to help them to look up and to see how much He really does care about them, and that He's aware of them and loves them dearly, as He truly does love each and every one of us individually, because as we help others, we in turn also help ourselves grow and strengthen our testimonies.
I invite you all to read D&C 45:3-5 and really ask yourself, "Is my relationship with my Savior at that point where it needs to be so that I can see myself standing beside Him to be judged of the Father at that last day and know in my heart that I have done all that I can to come unto Him, to do as He would have done, to be His hands on this earth, and to truly learn and live what it means to be His disciple?"
He's going to be there next to us, pleading our cause before the Father. He's shed His blood willingly on our behalf because He loves us, and all He asks us to do is to try, and it is enough for Him. So are we trying? Are we doing all that we can to give back to Him that's given us so much? We can never truly repay Him, but we can give it our best effort, so at that day when He pleads our cause before the Father, we will stand spotless and be able to feel worthy of His eternal mercy and grace.
I love my Savior and I love all of you, so keep striving to follow His example and one day we can all be together in everlasting and abounding love and joy!
Keep being angels,
Sister Wilcox 💛😇

Week 9: Be taught by angels around you
It truly is a testament that Heavenly Father knows you and knows what you need to learn and know at this time, so that you can live the life that He knows you need to live in order to be best prepared to return to Him again at the last day. This life is all about loving His children that are around us and doing all that we can to strive to help them make it back to Him with us again in the last day (and how great your joy will be when you meet them again at Jesus' feet and you can rejoice together in your shared, exalted eternities!).
I plead for you all to constantly examine your life and find ways to improve and be even more diligent in doing the Lord's work, and read D&C 18 and follow the counsels of our Savior and the perfect example He was throughout His ministry both in Jerusalem and in the Americas. Study His life, learn of Him, and give all to follow Him as that is what His true disciples do. Not just the minimal, but the extra mile.
I love my Savior and this gospel and it truly is so perfect! When you study it and keep your eyes open to the hand of the Lord everything fits together so perfectly you can't not marvel at the wisdom of our omnipotent, merciful Father in Heaven and how extravagantly perfect His Plan truly is!
Please always strive to do more and never be comfortable with where you're at! This life is a time to prepare to meet God and time is short, so don't waste it!
Love you all and thanks for your emails, 😊

Week 8: Be his disciples and feed his sheep
The actual act of being baptized was physically difficult for her, considering she's 70 and frail and can barely move with her MS, so the fact that she had enough faith to do it was so great to see, and watching her make her way into and back out of the baptismal font were probably some of the scariest 5 mins of my life (5 mins each way- it was a slow walk down those 3 steps). But she did it!
I know her Savior is so proud of the faith she's already shown Him throughout her life and I'm just glad we got to be a part of helping her come even closer to Him and to following His perfect example. 😊
Also, working as missionaries at the temple open house we get to meet so many of Heavenly Father's great children every day, and it's such an immense blessing and opportunity that not many people get to experience in their life and I'm so grateful for it!
This past week I was working in the video room that everyone goes through before their tour and a woman and her wheelchair- bound husband came in and for some reason they seemed to stand out a little, and I thought they were just a cute old member couple who came to see inside of their new temple, so we did the intro and played the video and sent them on their way like normal.
Then, later, when we switched shifts and went to the reception tent I was talking to some people when a tour guide came up to me and pulled me away, telling me this lady had some questions (it's funny how life-long members who are middle-aged and very knowledgeable about the gospel prefer to have 19 year-old girls answer questions- it must be the mantle 😂). There were even other missionaries around who weren't talking to anyone, but she asked me to help answer her questions so I walked over to her and it was the same lady I had seen earlier!
We talked about her questions, and the Spirit was so strong she started crying and reached out and hugged me suddenly, telling me thank you and it was just a very cool experience that I just wanted to mention briefly because I know there are no coincidences in the Lord. I know that we're put in other's paths so that we can help them, and perhaps we're the best one's prepared to help them- only the Lord knows everything, which is why His plan is so perfect. So trust Him and always do your best to uplift all those around you and help everyone to come unto Christ (active members, inactive members and nonmembers alike).
Everyone needs to remember how much Heavenly Father loves them, that's why it's the first and second greatest commandments- to love.
"By this shall men know ye are my disciples: if ye have love one to another."
Be His disciples by loving and feeding His sheep.
Love you all,
Sister Wilcox 😸💟

Week 7: The Temple is Beautiful!
We've been working with the open house a lot recently and it's so much fun! The actual open house starts up on the 21st of October, but VIP tours (for ambassadors, government workers, the construction people who built the temple, etc.) have already begun. Getting to meet people who have questions and are coming to you to learn more is so different from what most missionaries experience (i.e. going out and finding the few people who are interested). So, while we still do a lot of "normal" missionary work, the hours we get to spend working at the open house really is a cool and different experience.
Also, I ran into the Bartons randomly while walking between shifts! It was so weird- I turned the corner and saw Bro Barton and at first thought nothing of it, but then I remembered I was in Idaho not Bunnell, lol. It was a lot of fun.
Anyways, the pictures are of the temple, us and the temple, and us and Sherry (getting baptized on Saturday!) and the temple.
I love the temple, and I know that it truly is the Lord's house and that when we live in a way where we're always worthy to go inside of it, we will be able to feel the peace and comfort of the Holy Ghost in our lives and we will feel our Father in Heaven's love for us so much more strongly.
I love you all and pray that blessing will pour down upon you like Florida rain!
Sister Wilcox 😊💛
P.S.I invite you all to read 1 Nephi 8 and really study it, cause it's great!
I.e. it most recently taught/reminded me that: the rod of iron stays along the strait and narrow path all the way to the tree of life, of which's fruit is the most desirable above all other fruit- so, as we cling to the word of God we will be able to stay on the strait and narrow path and not be led astray and we will be able to receive of God's love and glory! So, press forward, continually holding fast to God's word until we make it to the tree and can fall down and partake of it's goodness- and even then, heed not the persecutions of those who do not believe or understand true happiness. The righteous will be persecuted (and many will choose to fall away because of it), but we need to always remember to endure and heed it not (even after we've tasted of the desirable fruit of God's everlasting love). Remember: Christ was persecuted and rejected- do we deserve more than He?
19 And I beheld a rod of iron, and it extended along the bank of the river, and led to the tree by which I stood.
>
20 And I also beheld a strait and narrow path, which came along by the rod of iron, even to the tree by which I stood;
24 And it came to pass that I beheld others pressing forward, and they came forth and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press forward through the mist of darkness, clinging to the rod of iron, even until they did come forth and partake of the fruit of the tree.
25 And after they had partaken of the fruit of the tree they did cast their eyes about as if they were ashamed. (why?? 😥 don't listen to them!)
26 And I also cast my eyes round about, and beheld, on the other side of the river of water, a great and spacious building; and it stood as it were in the air, high above the earth.
27 And it was filled with people, both old and young, both male and female; and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit. :(
28 And after they had tasted of the fruit they were ashamed, because of those that were scoffing at them; and they fell away into forbidden paths and were lost. (so sad)
29 And now I, Nephi, do not speak all the words of my father.
30 But, to be short in writing, behold, he saw other multitudes pressing forward; and they came and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press their way forward, continually holding fast to the rod of iron (the iron rod is the word of God- don't forget) ,until they came forth and fell down (in joyous exhaustion I'm sure) and partook of the fruit of the tree!
33 And great was the multitude that did enter into that strange building.😖 And after they did enter into that building they did point the finger of scorn at me and those that were partaking of the fruit also; but we heeded them not.
34 These are the words of my father: For as many as heeded them, had fallen away. 🙉 (still endure even after tasting of the fruit!-> Alma 5:26)
Week 6: Finding Angels
There's a family we've begun to teach named the Honeycutts, who have eight children total (though we only teach the youngest six the lessons) and it is such a blessing to be able to get to love them all! Our goal is to try to help give them a foundation of the gospel that they can rely on as they grow up (they're lacking it in their own family life as their mom's an long-time inactive member and their dad never was a member), and these children are so precious as they all love learning about Jesus and have the sweetest spirits ever! (BTW there's Calub (14), Samara (11), Dezyrae (9), Havana (7), Brooklynn (5), and Aspen (3)- and Calub's the only boy).
So, as we got to tour the Meridian temple a few days ago, I noticed that there were so many pictures of Jesus loving little children, and that combined with the spirit that's in temples already (being in the temple is a glimpse of what being in heaven feels like 💛) it was just so overwhelming (in a good, spiritual way)- the love and the desire I felt by the end of the tour to help these precious children of God know how much He loves them.
So as I was studying and eventually came across Moroni 7 (love this chapter!) I couldn't help but think the angels it talks about in verse 22 are all who help His children come unto Christ and find everlasting joy in Him, and the angels I've had the pleasure to meet this week are Sister Foote and Brother Gulls.
Sister Foote is a lady in the ward who has been driving out of her way every Sunday morning for the past 3+ years to pick up the Honeycutts and bring them to church. And every lesson we have is at her house and she feeds them all and is like a mother to them and it is so sweet. 💟 And Brother Gulls brings Calub to scouts every Wednesday, and over to his house right before it every time to make sure he's been fed dinner and is being taken care of, and pretty much acts like a father-figure to him.
To me, these saints truly exemplify what it is to do as the Savior would do, and as they express charity to these children as if they were their own I know that they truly are angels of the Lord, and it's so inspiring.
So, I invite you all to read Moroni 7 and to pray for opportunities to be able to be angels for Heavenly Father's beloved children every day in your own lives, and then to look for those opportunities as you go throughout your day and do them!
Let me know how it goes. :)
Love you all,
Sister Wilcox 💛😊

Week 5: Conference is Magical!
Words cannot describe how much I love General Conference and the power and testimonies of all those who speak in it every time. It truly is such a magical time to listen to our Heavenly Father speak directly to us through his servants the prophets and I know this with all my heart. When we listen with our ears open to hear, we will hear what the Lord's telling us that we need to do to come closer to Him, and that's our whole purpose in life. 💛
I absolutely loved conference! We were able to watch every session with a different investigator and each one felt inspired to make some kind of commitment afterwards to further come unto Christ, which I'm so grateful for. The most amazing thing happened when we watched the first session on Saturday morning with a sweet older investigator named Sherry whom we have been giving service to and visiting. She had said that she didn't want to look into the church too much, mainly out of respect for her husband who died in May and had some apprehensions about the Church. After we watched the session with her, I asked what her thoughts and feelings were and before we knew it she was near tears pleading, "Sisters, please- I need to be baptized! How can I be baptized, will you help me?"
I was absolutely shocked! I didn't think I heard right so I looked at my companion and she was just absolutely beaming and we were like, "Sherry! Of course we'll help you! That's why we're here!" It reminded me of the days my companion in the MTC Sister Millington and I would leave a practice teaching session and just want to do twirls in the rain because God truly is so merciful and good to let us, His imperfect servants, be a part of the miracle of seeing others come unto Christ!
One more story I'll share is one that happened while I was on exchanges in Star, Idaho. I've learned quickly that everyone here has dogs. Literally. Everyone. So, when we knock on a door it's more common than not to hear some kind of big dog on the other side barking at us to go away. So, when Hermana Marin and I knocked on the door of one house while tracting, it was really weird when there was just a really deep growl from the dog on the other side of the door. There was no barking or anything- just a very low (yet loud) snarling sound that made me think of Old Yeller when the rabid wolf jumps out of the bushes and tries to attack the people! It was super creepy and made me miss how every normal dog in the world just barks until the person goes away.
But anyways, we knocked again (because it's at least 3 knocks for salvation) and we heard a creepy shuffling/scraping sound coming towards the door (on top of the still growling rabid dog) and suddenly the door flung open and a huge pitbull-looking thing flies right at us (the owner didn't even try to hold it back!) and with no time to even blink, all I could do was jump in surprise as this huge rabid wolf-dog was flying through the air to eat us.
But, I testify that the Lord protects His missionaries, because right before that thing bit our faces off, it just stopped and looked at us calmly. In surprise (and still a bit of shock) we looked up at the 30-40 year old bald man standing inside the doorway that, to be honest, also looked surprised and a bit disappointed that we weren't torn to shreds. He told us he wasn't interested and tried calling his dog back in but it wouldn't listen and just wanted to sit there with us. It was the coolest thing (I felt like Daniel in the lion's den 😸).
So, put your trust in the Lord because He will deliver you! I know that He has a plan and a work for each of us to accomplish and when we make our will His will, He will make us instruments in His hands and we will be blessed to see the miracles of His works performed before our very eyes. It's truly amazing! Sadly, I only have 17 more months on a mission (oh, how the time flies) so I'm going to make every moment count and I invite all of you to do the same!
I will be working at the Meridian Temple open house 3 shifts a week (Mon, Tues, and Sat/Fri). Training starts this Wednesday so I'll know more about my duties then- but I'm so excited! That's so cool that Grandma and Grandpa Thompson and several of my Thompson aunts and uncles got to be involved in the Orlando, Florida open house and dedication. And it's even cooler that then, years later they got married inside of it! How special (I love the Orlando Temple!!!!).
There are a lot of Spanish speaking missionaries here and there are a lot of areas that are predominantly Spanish speaking, but in Middleton there aren't too many to the point where I haven't come across a need to attempt to use my little knowledge of it yet. We're in an area with a car (thank heavens- it's freezing outside!) but we do a lot of walking and tracting too so it's a fun mixture.
My companion is from Peoria, Arizona and she's super sweet (a lot like me even) so it's fun. We're over two wards and the YSA branch (though the branch's bigger than the Bunnell Ward, so i don't really know why they call it a branch lol) and the YSA covers all of Middleton so we travel pretty far sometimes.
Mile-wise Middleton is one of the smaller areas in the mission (in Oregon, places like La Paz are huge!) because there are quite a few members here. However, that also means that most people are already introduced to the church so it makes it hard when they already have pre-conceived notions about it and don't even give us the time of day. But the work will go on, because there are those few and far between that the Lord had prepared and we will find them!
I have a lot more to say but this email's too long so I guess that's it.
God is love, I know it.

Week 4: First In-Field P-Day
So much has happened and I'm not good at telling stories but basically there's lots of tracting (which, btw, is it called tracting or tracking? - my companion and I aren't sure) and lots of reactivating those sheep who were once of Christ's fold but now are lost and need to be re-found. So, while every missionary imagines baptizing like the sons of Mosiah in Helaman 5, sometimes we have to trust that the Lord puts us where we need to be and just get to work doing His will and forgetting our own. 😊
So, this week we've been working a lot with a less-active members who struggle to live all of the standards that Heavenly Father has commanded, and- in my opinion- it's interesting to see that they pretty much always still associate themselves with the church (even if it's been decades since they've last stepped foot into a church building) because they still have that testimony and witness that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ restored to the earth in this dispensation. For example, Sis. Abbott and I were tracting in two different areas this past week (we try to meet and share the gospel with at least 10 new people everyday) and found two different women whose stories were very similar, as they both knew the lds church was true, still used terms like "we" and everything when referring to it (because they still feel a part of it, as it's never too late to come back and they both acknowledged that) and basically only stopped going because they struggle to keep all of God's commandments and things that He asks us to do. But it was cool to see that, although they weren't active in the church anymore, they still held their testimonies dear to their heart and respected Christ's church and I thought it was sweet.
We also knocked on a door last night that a guy named Ben and four of his young daughters (he said that he and his wife have 6 kids and only one is a boy) answered, and as we shared our testimonies of Christ with them he said that they weren't interested in joining our church (they are strong in their other Christian church, which you can tell, because they were very Christian, and at first I even thought they were lds) but that he respected our church and appreciated that we give our time spreading the message about Christ to everyone and thanked us for it! So, we invited him to go to the Meridian temple open house (people always accept that invitation, because it doesn't sound like too big of a commitment and their curiosity of what a temple looks like inside usually kicks in) and maybe they will. Then, as we walked to the next door his daughters (the oldest was maybe seven) were watching us from their driveway and their mom was like, "Is that what you're going to do when you grow up? Are you going to tell everyone about Jesus?," and their daughters were all excited to be missionaries for Christ and it was the most unexpected but sweet experience ever! Tracting is the best because you never know what'll be behind every door (but I find that 99.9% of the time- at least here in Middleton- it's a dog; everyone here has dogs).
We also meet a lot of other people while tracting, too, but I like to share the best experiences and not dwell on the others (but the weird/funny ones I write down in my journal so when I get home I can share them when there's more time).
P.S. Sister Seibach (my MTC teacher) wasn't lying when she said your mission is basically taking your most awkward moments in life and multiplying that by every day you're out here. People are crazy! But it's funny/great/cool to see how different all of Heavenly Father's children truly are. 😸
Missions are great and I hope everyone gets an opportunity to serve one or do something like it at least once in their life! Sincerely think about it,
Sister Wilcox 🤗 Me and my companion
Keeping track of our workWeek 3 Now in the field--but no potatoes
Apparently potatoes are just grown on the east side of Idaho and on the west we have sugar beets and corn.... It's a bit disappointing (I like potatoes lol) but hey, you learn new things everyday. 🤔
Anyways, we missed p-day on Tuesday because we left for the airport at 3:50 in the morning (also, our building (R9) was evacuated for a fire-drill the night before we left which was a lot of fun) - (I'm still recovering from my lack of sleep) and so my lovely companion Sister Abbott is letting me email today really fast, and then I'll go back to the normal Mondays-are-p-days thing.
It's a bit scary out here in the real world, compared to teaching in the MTC and our first appointments are today so all I've done so far is a bit of tracting when we first got here (it's so cold rn) and it was cool to talk to people about the gospel and see their actual opinions and thoughts about it and the questions they have. Which, by the way, our mission has an average of 18.5% member population, so, believe it or not, we do teach and baptize people (but it is a lot of working with in-actives as well, depending on the area).
So, to let you know, my first area is Middleton, Idaho and it's a cute, small town with one grocery store, no Wal-Mart, and a bunch of trailers and little houses in packed communities, and it looks so different than Florida but it's pretty cute in it's own way. 😉
I haven't experienced much else other than flying here and getting settled and starting missionary work, so that's all I have to say for now.... but I'll keep you posted. 😊 Just keep working hard and remember that we're all on missions here- every member a missionary!
I love you all and Jesus loves you,
Sister Wilcox 😁💛✌
P.S. I'm putting all of my photos in a google drive folder so you can just see them all whenever you like so here's the link and you might need to request access but if you do I'll just grant it next time I check my email! Okay, gracias, adios! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0ByUy-XKpdKNKNUNRZVhBMFNGYTg
